Ernie's Place Café
227 West High Street, East Hampton: DBR 24
Everytime one drive’s down Route 66, it seems that if this establishment changes its name. It’s been known as Ollie O Twist’s, Holly J’s, Delmar’s, and the Rainbow Café. Well, the new owners have just about got it right. It has an excellent pub atmosphere, and amazingly it has soft seats. No more of those wooden stools and benches in bars seemingly aimed at making your stay as brief as possible. There’s also an outside patio, and its fine range of draft beers includes Budweiser, Michelob Amber Bock, Redhook Blonde Ale, Michelob Lite, Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, McSorley’s and Guinness. It doesn’t get much better in eastern Connecticut. Don’t miss it.
